DEAN FISHER PORTRAITS
Ever since I first began to draw and paint, when I was seven or
eight years old, I have been fascinated by human faces and their
incredible variety of expression, features and character.
Now with over twenty-five years of painting commissioned portraits,
my passion for the human face has not diminished, instead it has
only increased. As a result of this, I continue to strive to capture
the interior as well as the exterior nuances which set each of us
apart. The depiction of a “personality” on canvas is
also dependent on how the entire painting is conceived, i.e. composition,
color and mood, and since every person I paint is different, I attempt
to treat each portrait as
a unique work of art.
After receiving very traditional artistic training at the American
Academy of Art in Chicago, I lived and painted in Madrid, Paris
and London for eight years where I painted copies in museums (as
artists always did in previous centuries) of Old Master paintings
to study technique and composition. This experience of living abroad
enriched me in many ways which I believe has given my portrait style
a personal flavor.
During my career as a portrait painter I have painted such distinguished
individuals such as the Chairman of The Chicago Mercantile Exchange
and his family and The Family of the President of HGTV (Home
and Garden Television).
For
those individuals who are looking for a portrait that is also a
work of art, painted with integrity, experience and enthusiasm,
I look forward to working with you.
